Once, my mother grabbed my right hand and inspected it.
Grinning, she looked up at me and exclaimed
“You got Earth hands, missy!”
I didn’t understand, so naturally I asked.
“Mommy, what does that mean?”
Still grinning, she said
“It means you’re a creator.”
And she was right.
I liked to make things.
My big sister had air hands.
A small palm with long fingers.
Mother said she’s a talker.
My big brother had water hands,
Long fingers and a long palm.
Mom said he’s a thinker.
When my little brother turned four,
she inspected his hand.
